Music brings joy, meaning, challenge and community.  It speaks to the human brain in ways words alone could never express.  I started my professional journey eight years ago, teaching piano to people of all ages in my small town of Forest Grove.  My students inspired me to explore a wider world of music and their insightful questions further stimulated my own musical curiosity.

The next leg of my professional journey brought me to Marylhurst University, where I studied music therapy.  I learned about how powerful music can be as a tool to expand the mind and shape culture.  I earned my board-certification in 2016 and began practicing music therapy.

Through my time as a music therapist I have helped my clients form rock bands, learn new instruments, explore emotion through songwriting, use music to assist in relaxation, and build community ensembles.

As part of my own musical journey, I play keyboard with a jazz quartet called "The Purple Herons" to further explore the world of musical collaboration and performance.   Everyone is a musician, regardless of musical training, age, disability or cultural upbringing.  Music transcends barriers and allows us to explore the depths of our humanity and feel connected.  I formed the company, Terra Tone Music, so I could spread the joy that understanding and engaging in music can bring.
